How We Support (Methods / Pathways)

View all pathways →

01Pause pointsBuild brief pauses into the day before overload builds.

Create a brief pause before the next response, decision, or task takes over. One slow breath, standing up, looking away from the screen, or waiting a few seconds before replying can be enough to interrupt automatic momentum and make the next action more deliberate. For Nervous System Balance, the useful version of “Pause points” is the one that still works on an ordinary busy day.

02Sensory load adjustmentReduce unnecessary noise, clutter, or stimulation when possible.

Remove one or two unnecessary inputs before adding a new technique. Silence nonessential alerts, clear the immediate workspace, reduce competing audio, or close unused tabs so the environment asks less of attention during the next block. Use “Sensory load adjustment” as a practical part of Nervous System Balance, not as another obligation that has to be completed perfectly.

03Breathing and pacing cueUse slow pacing as a daily steadiness signal.

Use a naturally slower moment—walking to another room, waiting for a page to load, or sitting before a meeting—to let breathing and movement settle. Keep it comfortable and unforced; the cue is for pacing the day, not achieving a particular breathing pattern. Within Nervous System Balance, “Breathing and pacing cue” should stay flexible enough to fit an ordinary day rather than becoming a fixed rule.

04Boundary settingProtect small windows from constant interruption.

Choose one clear boundary that protects the routine, such as ending work messages during a meal, closing the laptop before the evening routine, or reserving a short block without notifications. A small boundary that is kept consistently is more useful than an ambitious rule that disappears on busy days. Keep “Boundary setting” proportionate to the rest of the Nervous System Balance routine and simplify it if it becomes hard to repeat.

05Recovery cue after demandEnd demanding moments with a short stabilising action.

Choose one short action that clearly ends a demanding moment before the next demand begins. Step outside, sit somewhere quieter, walk for a few minutes, have a planned meal or drink, or simply close the work materials; the key is that the cue creates a real change of pace. On the Nervous System Balance pathway, “Recovery cue after demand” works best as a repeatable cue rather than a performance target.
