How We Support (Methods / Pathways)

View all pathways →

01Tiny anchorStart with one action that is easy to repeat.

Pick one action that already has a natural place in the day and make it the anchor for the wider routine. Keep the first version small enough to do on a busy day, then connect additional steps only after the anchor itself feels familiar. On the Routine Consistency Support pathway, “Tiny anchor” works best as a repeatable cue rather than a performance target.

02Cue stackingAttach the routine to something already happening.

Attach the new action to something that reliably happens already, such as making coffee, finishing lunch, closing the laptop, or brushing your teeth. The existing cue carries the memory load, which makes the routine less dependent on motivation. For Routine Consistency Support, the useful version of “Cue stacking” is the one that still works on an ordinary busy day.

03Visible reminderKeep the routine cue in sight.

Put the cue where the action happens: leave walking shoes by the door, keep the water bottle on the desk, or place the evening item beside the object you already use. A useful reminder should make the next step obvious without filling the environment with alerts. On the Routine Consistency Support pathway, “Visible reminder” works best as a repeatable cue rather than a performance target.

04Flexible minimumDefine the version you can do on difficult days.

Define a smaller version of the routine for busy, travel, or low-capacity days. Keeping one or two core anchors preserves continuity and makes it easier to return to the fuller routine without viewing disruption as failure. Within Routine Consistency Support, “Flexible minimum” should stay flexible enough to fit an ordinary day rather than becoming a fixed rule.

05Weekly review loopReview the routine without blame.

Review the pattern over several days rather than reacting to one good or difficult day. Note what was easy to repeat, what repeatedly fell away, and one change that would make the routine simpler; the review should reduce friction, not become another performance score. Use “Weekly review loop” as one flexible support cue within Routine Consistency Support, rather than a stand-alone rule that has to be followed exactly.
