How We Support (Methods / Pathways)

View all pathways →

01Clear evening boundaryMark the point where work, tasks, or stimulation begin to close.

Choose one clear boundary that protects the routine, such as ending work messages during a meal, closing the laptop before the evening routine, or reserving a short block without notifications. A small boundary that is kept consistently is more useful than an ambitious rule that disappears on busy days. Use “Clear evening boundary” as a practical part of Evening Wind-Down, not as another obligation that has to be completed perfectly.

02Low-stimulation settingMake the evening environment calmer and easier to settle into.

Use the final part of the evening to gradually lower brightness, noise, and task intensity. Dim unnecessary lights, finish stimulating work where possible, and choose a quieter activity so the environment changes in a way that clearly marks the transition toward rest. On the Evening Wind-Down pathway, “Low-stimulation setting” works best as a repeatable cue rather than a performance target.

03Screen handoffMove screens into a supporting role instead of letting them lead the evening.

Choose a point when screens stop leading the next part of the day. You might move the phone away from the main resting space, switch from close-up scrolling to music or an audio task, or finish the last screen-based job before beginning the evening routine. On the Evening Wind-Down pathway, “Screen handoff” works best as a repeatable cue rather than a performance target.

04Body-based cueUse simple physical signals that tell the day to slow down.

Use a simple physical action to mark the transition out of the active day—change clothes, take a warm shower, stretch gently, or prepare a non-work drink. Repeating the same cue can make the shift toward evening easier to recognise. Use “Body-based cue” as one flexible support cue within Evening Wind-Down, rather than a stand-alone rule that has to be followed exactly.

05Prepare tomorrow lightlyReduce mental clutter without turning evening into planning time.

Before stopping, write down the next concrete step and clear only what is needed to make tomorrow easier. The aim is a clean handoff—not a second planning session—so the current day can close without carrying every open task into the evening. Keep “Prepare tomorrow lightly” proportionate to the rest of the Evening Wind-Down routine and simplify it if it becomes hard to repeat.
